Jonas Bro Wedding: "It Was All Tears"

When singer/actor Nick Jonas proposed to Indian superstar Priyanka Chopra this past summer, the two knew their wedding had to be a meld of their cultures, religions and families.

“Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day,” Chopra, 36, tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s cover story. “But I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be.”

The singer, 26, suggested they dream big and opt for not one, but two ceremonies in India to celebrate their different backgrounds. “It melted my heart,” adds the Quantico actress. “Being able to have two big weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special.”

Hosting an epic wedding weekend for 225 guests including Jonas’s brothers Kevin (with wife Danielle), Joe (with fiancΓ©e, actress Sophie Turner) and Frankie along with Chopra’s brother Siddharth — all planned by Sandeep Khosla and Aditya Motwane, respective founder-owners of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Motwane Entertainment & Weddings — the couple held court for four days at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.

On Dec. 1, the day after Chopra and Jonas had a Mehendi ceremony, where they were both adorned with henna tattoos, and a Sangeet that night in which both families performed elaborate musical numbers with choreography and costumes, the bride and groom were married in a Western ceremony on the palace’s lawn.

As a string quartet played, Chopra, wearing a hand-beaded and embroidered Ralph Lauren gown with a stunning 75-foot long veil, was escorted down the aisle by her mother Madhu (her father Ashok died of cancer in 2013).

“It was all tears. All tears,” says the actress, who carried a bouquet of tuberoses (her favorite flower) designed by Jenya Flowers (NYC), which created the floral arrangements for the entire wedding party. “I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”

It’s amazing how people around the world celebrate these big milestone events like weddings. Someday I would like to be a part of a wedding in another country and see all the different elements. But what would be even cooler would be seeing the elements that are the same and seeing how different cultures really aren’t so different.

They Say It’s Good Luck When It Rains On Your Wedding Day

“I was SO insanely impressed with DJ Erik and the whole Dow Oak Events team. From the get go, their prices were reasonable and they were incredibly responsive (it took less than five minutes to hear back from them, I kid you not). Their website is easy to use and they were kind enough to send email follow-ups for playlist and payment deadlines. DJ Erik (or more apt DJ Erok) is very talented and kept almost my entire guest list on the dance floor for close to three hours. He is adept at reading the crowd and blending genres- many times my guests would scream with excitement at a song they hadn’t heard since middle school. I can’t say enough great things. I highly recommend Dow Oak Events and DJ Erik in particular! We received so many compliments on how great our DJ was!” –The Knot

The Pleasure Was Ours

These reviews are what push us to be better than we were yesterday! Thank you for the feedback, the pleasure was absolutely ours!

These pictures were almost as much fun to go through as the wedding was to live through. Amanda Sutton Photography did a phenomenal job. Just look at these beauties! I wish I could have attached every photo in the gallery.

Faith and Patrick were such a great couple. It was apparent that laughter is a huge part of their life. And that’s just how way we like it! Not only can these two pull off elegance and class, but they also rock fun and joy fabulously.

Starting the Party

There was such excitement and bliss in Lake Lure Inn and Spa on this night in Asheville. These are the moments we like to see at Dow Oak Events.

It makes our heart sing when the fun spreads. This makes our job a lot easier! Look at how they admire each other. When the surroundings fade away is when it’s meant to be.

What an amazing night. With this send-off of all Faith and Patrick’s friends and family rooting for them, it’s obvious they’re both loved. What a success! It was a pleasure to be able to be a part of this marvelous day.

I think this amazing couple received all of the luck. It only rained a little but they sure look lucky to have each other!

Final Thoughts

There was so much happiness and excitement wrapped up in this whole night. We could feel it. And we know everyone else could too. Understandably, this makes for a memorable and awesome night.
And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

In conclusion, we’ve learned that being a wedding DJ isn’t just about playing the music. So we take our role seriously. Facilitating such a big day is a serious job! That’s why we always give every wedding or event our all.

Wheelchair-bound Father of the Bride Puts on a Show

This touching video of an Alabama bride dancing with her terminally-ill father at her wedding will have you reaching for a box of tissues.

Mary Bourne Roberts had her father-daughter dance tune picked out since she was a child, when she and dad Jim used to dance around the kitchen to Lee Ann Womack’s 2000 hit ‘I Hope You Dance’.
When they finally made it happen during her December 29 wedding in Point Clear, Alabama, it didn’t look like she’d imagined.

Jim was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer that typically kills in a matter of months, in May 2017.

The bleak prognosis left his daughter unsure if he would even be able to attend her wedding to fiance James Butts. So when the father-daughter duo got the opportunity, they made it count.

Heartwarming video from Mary Bourne’s wedding reception shows her and her dad, who is in a wheelchair, holding hands as they twirl around the dance floor singing along to their song.
The three-and-a-half minute clip ends with almost everyone in the audience wiping away tears of joy, including the father-of-the-bride.

This video is great. Seriously, do yourself a favor and watch it. There’s always a way to make your wedding meaningful and unique, and this bride definitely found it.

Beer and… Throwing Axes?

wedding with axes

“Soooo happy we went with Dow Oak Events! After talking to Henry we knew the big day would be GREAT. AND IT WAS!!” –WeddingWire

Coolest Venue

Look at this venue space. The industrial vibe went so well with the beer and axes. In addition, the lighting was on point. The icing on the cake. What’s more, the open space was also perfect for dancing. And with the dance floor lights, it was definitely a party. Most importantly, everyone was living it up.

All the vendors working together made this wedding. Cake? Top-notch. Flower arrangements? Off the chain. Venue? Heck yes. Charlotte? Yes, please. And all this rolled into one wedding? A+ for sure. For real though, look at these flowers. The uplighting and the natural light of the venue really made everything look phenomenal. Without a doubt, with The Nixons Photography, we’ll be able to remember the exact vibe.

Coolest Night

Of course, we had an amazing time. And so did all the guests. Everyone was letting loose and having a good time. Without a doubt, these are exactly the kinds of weddings we love to do.

We especially love doing unique weddings. It’s so cool to see how different people make weddings their own. Obviously, this was totally a case of a couple making their wedding their own. It’s refreshing for us to see people making ceremonies their own. Unquestionably, with craft beer and throwing axes, this was unique.

Thanks to all the vendors who worked with us to make this night one to remember. Of course, congrats to the newlyweds also!

This was one of the coolest venues we’ve ever been to. All in all, between the beer, axes, and the couple… it was super cool. Working with all these phenomenal people in this amazing venue was unforgettable. In other words, everything about it was awesome.

A Furry Wedding Crasher

It’s one of the most memorable days in a person’s life: Their wedding day.

And a bride in China got exactly that — a magical day she’ll remember forever, along with something extra.
The wedding ceremony reportedly took place in Shanghai. The newlyweds were walking through a park with their friends, snapping photos, when an adorable little wedding crasher showed up.

The playful orange and white cat saw the train of the bride’s wedding dress dragging along the sidewalk — and, to the delight of onlookers, started to chase after it.

See the full article and other awesome animal tales at https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/bride-wedding-dress-cat-video-china or read some more awesome weddingy stuff at Best Charlotte Wedding DJs

I’m such a sucker for everything wedding-animal related. I swear, every single article I see about a cat/dog/possum/animal in general that’s even peripherally involved in a wedding will 1000% be posted here. You can believe that.

TIMBER

The Wow Factor

WOW! Is all that can be said about the beauty of this wedding. The people, flowers, venue… amazing. And the thoughtfulness of the Bride and Groom for the guests! All of this left us a bit speechless.

Let’s start with the venue. The ceremony was tucked away in the woods. It was simple, gorgeous, and elegant. They even offered fans for the guests. And the venue team did a phenomenal job crafting this scene. In other words, everyone was working together flawlessly. And that’s something we notice. For instance, we had no trouble at all coordinating everything.

However, THE FLOWERS THOUGH. They were to die for! Whole Foods in Chapel Hill absolutely killed it. The centerpieces for the tables were so simple. Yet they drew focus to the origami crane place settings. Which was a very cool touch. This was definitely something we hadn’t seen before. In addition, these photos are awesome too. They exude love, fun, and adoration. Above all, they captured true emotions. In addition, they look amazing.

Planting the Seed

After that, the newlyweds gave out the wedding favors. Now, this was another very thoughtful gift for the guests. Seeds to take home as wedding favors! They even researched what will grow best in North Carolina vs what will grow best in Washington. We need more people like them!
In addition, they made sure that we were open to guest requests. That’s something we’re always happy to do. However, not every couple goes out of their way to do that. This extra touch is another example of caring about the guest experience. Similarly, they made sure all guests were having a good time on the dance floor.

Final Thoughts

There were so many cool, individual touches added to this wedding. And that’s something we love to see. Couples pouring themselves into their big days is what makes them special. In essence, this couple had that in spades.

And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

A Wedding Boutique Pushing For Inclusivity

A bridal boutique is getting lots of love for its inclusive window display featuring a mannequin in a wheelchair wearing a wedding gown.

Sure, there’s nothing unusual about a bride in a wheelchair. But seeing one represented in a window display? That type of inclusivity doesn’t happen every day — and it’s about time it does, say supporters who are applauding the boutique.

“The new wedding shop in town has a wheelchair using mannequin and it shouldn’t be exciting but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen disability portrayed in a shop window,” Beth Wilson wrote on Twitter.

The new wedding shop in town has a wheelchair using mannequin and it shouldn’t be exciting but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen disability portrayed in a shop window.

The store is The White Collection Bridal Boutique in Portishead, England, which is near Bristol.
Laura Allen, the boutique owner, told TODAY Style in an email that she’s pleased with all the attention the current display has gotten, especially since it replaced a much more elaborate display complete with a Cinderella carriage, falling snow and a staircase.

“For this season we wanted to strip it right back and have a mannequin in each window,” she said.

“Our thoughts of having one of them in a wheelchair was ‘why not?’ And we didn’t really think too much about it.

A Rave at the Lofts

“My husband and I were completely blown away by Erik and the Dow Oak team! They did a wonderful job and were so professional! They were able to provide multiple setups for our wedding and transition between them seamlessly. Dow Oak definitely went above and beyond for us. Our dance floor was packed all night long. All in all, the experience was remarkable and we would highly suggest Dow Oak to anyone!” –The Knot

Full-on Rave

This wedding was seriously stunning. Everything looked amazing. But what really made it was the floral arrangements. These succulents came all the way from Holland! Not only did everything look amazing, but also the venue was awesome to work in. Everyone worked together towards one goal: making the day the best possible for the newlyweds.

And we definitely had a good time at this wedding. With all the vendors helping, everything went off without a hitch. When everyone works together, we can make everything go as smoothly as possible. For instance, we even brought water to the partying bride and groom so they didn’t have to leave the dance floor!

Guest Appearances

After the ceremony, we transitioned into a full-on rave. We also helped organize a guest appearance by another well-known DJ, Marshmello. With the help of the bride, we were able to bring a favorite DJ of the groom’s onto the team for this one. The groom was definitely surprised! A night of dancing, drinks, and donuts… what more could we want? That is to say, this couple and all the vendors are what made this party at The Lofts.

With the help of all our DJs, we kept the dance floor packed all night. In conclusion, thanks to the awesome lighting and amazing music, everyone had a great time.

Final Thoughts

Everything is better when people work together. This wedding proves that. Above all, it was team work that made this wedding such a success. However, it was not just with us and the other vendors either. But bringing in a surprise guest DJ and coordinating it with the bride smoothly? That definitely takes some teamwork to pull off. And it went flawlessly.

And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

Even More Memories

Sarah Van Hecke Photography really did a Hecke of a job capturing these moments. You can feel the happiness in these photos.

These loral arrangements were awesome, too. Specifically, the centerpieces. Vintage Soul Floral Design did a fabulous job making the white color theme pop with different flowers and beautiful greenery. It really did look like something out of the movies.

This shot is gorgeous. It really captures all the happiness of the evening. No one had a care in the world. So we knew things were going well. And that is what we love to see at Dow Oak Events! Everyone enjoying their evenings and the newlyweds having a night to remember.

Not only was this venue beautiful, it was fun. Transitioning from a beautiful ceremony location to the reception was smooth and easy. And as soon as the reception was underway, it was dance time. Occasionally, we’ll have to work to get people on the dance floor. However, that was not the case here.

Total Cohesion

It was an absolute pleasure working with Mr. and Mrs. Krause! Undeniably a very cool couple. We also had a great time working with all the vendors. Unsurprisingly, with everyone working together, the night went flawlessly.

What’s more, when everybody is working together, you can feel it. Not just us vendors, either. Without a doubt, everyone was feeling it. And it absolutely showed.

A huge thanks again to the Krauses for inviting us to be a part of their big day! Equally important, the outstanding vendors who worked so hard to make this Charlotte wedding a success.
